Turning stumbling blocks into stepping stones

H.O.P.E - How Ordinary People Excel!

Here at Blaze, as in many other 'person centred' and ethical business's all over the UK, we recognise that our staff are our most valuable asset!

It is true that in life that we all contribute in whatever way we can and we've discovered the particular strength that we have is to help them master life skills which will serve them forever.

(We are a company which specialises in creating great states of confidence and altering beliefs in a short amount of time so it seemed to be a logical and productive use of our skill base!)

One little known fact about our organisation is that quite apart from the events that we offer to the fundraising community at large, we elect to do a lot of work on a long term basis with people from our inner cities who are viewed by some as 'chronically disadvantaged' in some way.

To that end, a proportion of our staff are recruited from the long term unemployed or people coming out of substance abuse challenges or who have debilitating self esteem issues.

Over the years we have discovered that by learning the life skills we have to offer and by contributing their time and energy towards philanthropic fundraising efforts, an individual can lead themselves them back on the road to being a valued contributing member of society.

We have had great success working alongside people challenged by Dyslexia, Hyperhidrosis, Dyspraxia, Turrets and Aspergers Syndrome. We have worked closely with staff who were suffering from M. E. and Bi polar Disorders and helped them overcome the social stigma surrounding these issues and our work with people struggling with verbal ticks and speech impediments has been been very encouraging indeed. The results we achieved with people with Kleptomania and low self esteem has been very well rewarded over the years also.

We have discovered that often it is not the persons 'problem' which is the stumbling block, rather the persons own 'perceived' awareness of it that causes the challenges in their life. Once we help change their own perception of the challenge, it ceases to be an issue to them. We do this by constantly challenging them to step up to new ways of thinking, setting higher goals for themselves and reframing the way they view things.

It has been said that if you change your thinking, you change your reality. Often it is as simple as that!

We are constantly exposing our staff to new, positive experiences within the context of a healthy working environment and encouraging them to expand their comfort zones in all arenas of their life. We have had many success stories across the years and many touching tributes line the walls of our offices as testament to the results we have helped create while working alongside our staff.

For some people, walking on hot coals is a huge challenge but for others, learning to overcome the fear of making a phone call to a stranger ( or charity fundraiser! ) or mastering basic computer literacy is a mountain to climb.

By learning how to help others, ultimately they end up learning to help themselves.

The modest profits that Blaze events generate for our company is ploughed back into our projects here at home and we also regularly look to perform a percentage of our work in any one year free for our regular clients on a discretionary, rolling basis.

The success from our other jobs helps support this venture and we also at present tithe regular donations to twenty national and international charities.

"The work you do with the people we send you is amazing! We have never seen such a difference created in such a short space of time. You are tremendous role models for our clients and a fantastic illustration of being your own tinderbox and your own spark as you guys so often say in your showcase presentations. We recommend you at every opportunity!" - Instant Muscle Charity number 288777
