European Record

The European distance for walking on fire - 60ft of red hot coals! This was shown on the TV show 'Record Breakers' in 2000.

This came about after another firewalking Expert had managed to muff up a perfectly simple firewalk live on national TV!

The TV programme Tomorrows World had setup an experiment to determine exactly how firewalking was possible. Is it magic or physics?

They had chosen a firewalking instructor for the experiment based on his strange beliefs rather than his abilities to complete the task in hand. In truth; we think they set him up to fail..

(After all, if he HAD have breezed the fire they had built for him to walk across and proved their theories incorrect, the TV would have looked 7 shades of stupid, right?)

At the conclusion of the programme, as the first aid people were attending to the feet of the firewakers to the hilarity of 20 million viewers across the UK, the braying spokesman for the TV programme declared "it's just not possible to do a 60 ft firewalk"

The gauntlet had been thrown down.

So ... 6 weeks later we were running a charity event for one of our clients, the Roy Castle lung cancer foundation. This was the ideal location and venue to prove our point so after running a successful fundraising event for the charity we got down to the real work of the evening. For the benefit of the TV crew from Record Breakers we put three of our team across a firewalk which was 62 ft long, burning at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. (the world record at that time was only a measly 50 ft and had stood for some time)

They filmed it, they showed it, we got our Record Breakers medals!

Point made.
